NIC WILLIAMS
2011
This is week 10 and I’m 1/4 of the way through my career break, how can that have happened?
The first part of the week we bombed back from France covering 570 miles in a day with just a 5 min stop. Our efforts to jump on the Eurotunnel a day early were thwarted as it was 100% booked up. No matter we found a lovely campsite just outside Calais and were able to do some booze and food shopping the following morning before catching the Eurotunnel. What a great service that is, so easy.
Over the weekend we headed to our friends Carlos and Nicki’s for our annual weekend with them for the Point to Point horse racing at Kingston Blount. Our other friends Flo and Mark were also there with Oliver and our god daughter Sophie.
Friday night was all about dinner and some wine then Saturday after Charlie (god son) and Jonny had been to their tennis lesson we headed off for the races. We arrived sufficiently early to not only get front row but to be in the best spot on the course with enough room to open the awning on Vern the campervan. Perfect. It was quite an eventful day as the ground was very hard and the weather warm making it very hard going for the horses. Still we had superb weather and enjoyed a picnic and the racing.
Sunday and we all got to go to a farmers market at Aston Clinton, a short walk from Carlos and Nicki’s. We all got to eat a different lunch, the kids got to have pony rides and Helena bought us all ice creams, cracking.
Home on Monday so time for some caching. I popped up towards Peterborough where I found two lovely series of caches that I combined into one, 8 miles and 34 caches. It was hard going but lovely.
Well 1/4 of the career break over. 3/4 still to enjoy. Right what next?

We’re back from a cracking trip to France, just in time to go away for the weekend and stay with friends. A cracking weekend of catching up and the horse races.
